Vocabulary.com has named Nation Ford High School as state champions for the 2018-2019 Vocabulary Bowl.

During the school year, Nation Ford students mastered 73,395 words, more than twice any other school in South Carolina. The students also ranked 52nd in Division I (schools with 1,000 or more students) and 53rd in the High School Division.

Etiwanda High School of California won the national championship by mastering 469,945 words.

The Vocabulary Bowl is a competition for students in K-12 schools in the United States and Canada. More than 1.37 million students from over 39,700 schools across North America participated in this year’s Vocabulary Bowl and collectively mastered over 35 million words.

The official season runs every year from October 1 through April 30.
