The Anne Springs Close Greenway is launching its newest educational program – the Greenway Preschool, a nature-based preschool concept designed to connect young children to nature while also preparing them for kindergarten.

The program begins in September, providing children in the Fort Mill area with the opportunity to explore and discover nature through hands-on, indoor and outdoor learning opportunities. The progam was developed by Dr. Michelle Evans, Director of Education for the Anne Springs Close Greenway, and Lindsey Arnautovic, FLYERS Director.

“Decades of research shows that a connection to nature in early childhood has a positive impact in a child’s well-being. The Greenway Preschool will offer a unique half-day opportunity in Fort Mill that will ensure children are ready for kindergarten through nature-based activities and play,” said Director of Education Dr. Michelle Evans in a press release. “This type of learning is fun, age appropriate and allows children to explore and appreciate our natural world.”

“We are excited to offer this exclusive preschool experience that will not only prepare children for future academic success, but also provide social and emotional growth and a love for the outdoors,” said Lindsey Arnautovic, director of the Leroy Springs & Co. FLYERS program, which provides enrichment and afterschool care in each Fort Mill Elementary School and serves thousands of school children each year.

The preschool program will be held at the Adventure Center on the Greenway (104 Adventure Road, Fort Mill, SC 29715), Monday to Friday, 8:30 am-12:30 pm. Both indoor and outdoor experiences will be incorporated with a strong emphasis on outdoor learning and exploration.  The Greenway Preschool is available to children ages 4 and 5 and will offer low student/teacher ratios of 8:1, with a maximum of 20 students enrolled in this charter year.

Prospective parents are invited to schedule a tour with the Preschool Directors by calling 803-548-7255 or emailing Info@ASCGreenway.org.
