Rock Hill resident Chandler Buckson was shot in Fort Mill on Monday night.

Fort Mill police issued a statement on Tuesday reassuring residents that a shooting the night before was an isolated incident with no immediate danger to the public.

The victim, 22-year-old Chandler Buckson of Rock Hill, lives a half hour away from the area where he was shot on Bozeman Drive in Fort Mill in an area owned by the housing authority. A motive was not released.

FMPD Captain Steven Bivins said gunfire was heard along Bozeman Drive around 7 p.m. Monday in the city limits. Moments later, personnel at the Gold Hill Emergency Department notified police that a patient had shown up with a gunshot wound.

“Officers responded to the medical facility and identified a 22-year-old male subject with nonlife threatening injuries,” Capt. Bivins said in a press release. “Investigators responded to Bozeman Drive and began processing the scene and attempting to identify witnesses. Little information is known about possible suspects at this time.”

Authorities say they believe that the shooting was an isolated incident that occurred outside the residence.

Buckson was transported to a regional hospital for additional treatment, Capt. Bivins said.
