When police arrived at 1707 Forest Ridge Drive, the victim said she was in front of her apartment with friends and family talking when an “unknown assailant” fired several rounds in their direction.

The girl was shot and then rushed to Piedmont Medical Center by one of the bystanders. No one else was struck, and the suspect was no longer on the scene. The juvenile victim was not named by police.

Police spokesman Maj. Bryan Zachary said that it appears the suspect is also a juvenile and possibly known by the victim or other witnesses.

This is the same neighborhood where shootings injured two juveniles in August that were tied to older teens from Lancaster.
