A new event is coming to Fort Mill to serve as the official kick-off to the S.C. Strawberry Festival.

Here is a press release from the Town of Fort Mill:

The Strawberry Sprint and Stroll 5K and Fun Run will take place in the historic downtown corridor on Saturday, April 25.

The course begins and ends on Confederate Street and includes nearby residential streets. A runner’s village featuring music, food, and local vendors will be located in the municipal lot behind Main Street’s Improper Pig and Amor Artis locations. These two local businesses will also sponsor a race after-party. Berry B. Good, Fort Mill’s cheerful strawberry mascot, and the reigning Strawberry Queens will also be part of the festivities.

In addition to the competitive 5K, the fun run is a great opportunity for families with children or anyone who likes a slower pace to take part. Strollers are welcome on the fun run and participants are encouraged to dress in their strawberry best! All participants in either category will receive a race shirt and a participation medal. Registration is open at strawberry5K.raceroster.com.

LPL Financial is the title sponsor for this inaugural event, which benefits the efforts of Fort Mill Economic Partners. Major sponsors are Family Trust Federal Credit Union and The Greens at Fort Mill.

The South Carolina Strawberry Festival is presented by Piedmont Medical Center and the Town of Fort Mill.
