Christopher Sardelli has been hired as the spokesman for the Town of Fort Mill, serving as a new Public Relations Manager to handle communication needs for the municipality.
Sardelli joined the town on April 15 and will help enhance communications between the town and its residents. In his role, Sardelli will serve as a spokesman for the Town and be the point of contact for media inquiries, while also spearheading Town publications and communication materials.
As Public Relations Manager, he will also coordinate press conferences, conduct outreach with area agencies and increase the Town’s social media presence.
“I am very excited to join the Town of Fort Mill in this new role. I look forward to using my diverse background to inform the community about the Town’s various exciting events and keep the public apprised of important news,” Sardelli said in his first press release.
Sardelli previously worked for three years as a marketing and communications associate for Community Care Partners of Greater Mecklenburg, a community health-focused organization under the umbrella of Atrium Health. There he assisted with both internal and external communication, including press releases, newsletters and brochures, while also coordinating events involving patients, doctors and area health agencies.
Prior to that he worked as a senior reporter for two local newspapers. During his almost eight years with those newspapers, he covered a variety of beats, including county and city government, police and courts, business, features and education. In 2016, he was awarded the prestigious Weekly Journalist of the Year award from the South Carolina Press Association. He has also won more than 50 other regional, state and national journalism awards.
Town Manager Davy Broom welcomed Sardelli to the Town of Fort Mill.
“We are pleased to have Chris join our organization! His experience in the field of communications will greatly benefit our community and staff,” Broom said.
