Two more York County residents died over the weekend from Coronavirus, bringing the county death toll to 10, Coroner Sabrina Gast said in an email.

Both people who died tested positive for COVID-19. They were both from Rock Hill, the coroner said.

“Both decedents had pre-existing medical conditions and were being treated at a local hospital,” Gast said. 

The coroner’s office says they only have one death in near Fort Mill, and that is from Tega Cay. However, two of the 10 deaths were York County residents who died while in Mecklenburg County, but medical officials would not tell the coroner’s office more specific information on the patients’ city of residence.

There have been 127 reported COVID-19 cases in the Fort Mill area through Sunday, according to the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. That is broken down with these zip codes:

Estimated cases are calculated based on evidence that for every known case of COVOD-19, there could be up to nine people with the virus who remain unidentified in the community, DHEC says.
