Fort Mill is planning a variety of improvements to Walter Y. Elisha Park, anchored by a new amphitheater at the southern corner of the park. (Photos below.)

Improvements include reconfiguring existing parking, adding parking behind the amphitheater and along Ardrey Street, adding a restroom facility and making other site improvements to the existing trails, site lighting, landscaping and more.

Fort Mill officials recently provided their plans to the Historic Review Board.

As for a timeline of construction, Assistant Town Manager Chris Pettit said this: “The Historic Review Board is one of the parties that has to sign off on the design concept.  Once the design has been approved, we can move forward with approving the full construction drawings, sending the project out for bid, selecting a contractor, and starting the construction phase of the project.  More information, including the estimated timelines for starting and completing construction, will become available as we continue to move through the process.”

Parking should improve with a new lot being added to the grassy area between Calhoun Park and Elisha Park, quadrupling the number available now to just over 100 parking spaces.

In addition to a large restroom facility at Elisha Park, Calhoun will see a facility with three individual unisex bathrooms. The park is used mainly for soccer games. Elisha Park will also see new bench swings.
