Workers have reported the theft of parts from four buses at the Carolina Kids Child Development Center in Fort Mill.

The thieves literally went underneath the buses at the center on Old Nation Road and removed the catalytic converters, according to a York County sheriff’s report released last week.

One of the drivers started a bus and found that it was making a very loud noise. “The driver looked under the bus and found that the catalytic converter had been cut out from underneath the bus and had been stolen,” a sheriff’s report says.

A supervisor told deputies that they had all their buses checked and found three other buses with the same part missing. The vehicles were all Chevrolets with model years 2007, 2006, 2005 and 2000.

A center employee said a sister business in North Carolina was also hit by thieves in the same manner in the last few weeks.
