The Town of Fort Mill is holding a groundbreaking ceremony Monday morning for a new fire station to serve southern Fort Mill.

The construction site is located at 1245 Fort Mill Parkway, directly across from Catawba Ridge High School, and the ceremony is set for 10 a.m. Monday.

The new fire station will keep response times at a reasonable time, officials said. The cost is expected to be around $4 million and will serve the southern part of town, including the Dobys Bridge Road corridor, Fort Mill Parkway, Banks, Holbrook and Whites roads.

The last draft showed a 10,000-square-foot site on land donated as part of Nims Village.

All attendees of Monday’s ceremony are meeting at Doby Bridge Park (1905 N. Doby’s Bridge Road) between 9:15 and 9:30 a.m. to be escorted to the site, according to a press release.
