Fort Mill School Trustees unanimously approved $4.25 million in new capital expenses this week for maintenance and related projects.
The district approved an 8 percent bond, allowing them to borrow money to keep the schools in tip-top shape and fund some other needs unrelated to its operational budget.
For example, Banks Trail Middle School is installing a shot-put & discus practice area for $15,000. Fort Mill High is wrapping the baseball dugouts with brick for $20,000 and replacing the old football scoreboard for $25,000. And Dobey’s Bridge Elementary School is getting $2,500 to soundproof its music room.
Other schools are getting new carpet, bathroom renovations, kindergarten swings, and parking-lot resurfacing.

• Reskin / Resod / Irrigation Baseball Field – $20,000
• Replace Stadium Scoreboard – 26 years old and multiple problems – $25,000
• Retro Fit side goals in main gym to be motorized – $7,500
• Replace Exterior Doors on A B D & E Halls – $60,000
• Room 108 Renovate for PLTW $30,000
• Refurbish all interior door frames and paint (Total of 524) – $20,000
• Multiple locations of terrazzo replacement – $125,000
• All Admin Areas – Carpet- HS Proper / R Wing / Annex – $70,000
Nation Ford High School
• Intercom System Replacement – Ronco – $150,000
• Mill, Repave, and Restripe Parking Lots – $100,000
• Convert front walkway to Special Ed Bus Lane – use signage etc – $60,000
• Resurface Running Track – $100,000
• B&K Audio & Lighting Upgrades Auditorium – $100,000
• Add ground coverage (probably gravel) around bus loop – $50,000
• Convert Storage Room into AD Conference Room – $40,000
• Replace Carpet in Rooms D113, D115, D117 and B109 – $15,000
• Remove Wall in TV Studio – $7,500
Dobey’s Bridge Elementary School
• Asphalt Parking Area at back of school -$80,000
• Music Room Soundproofing – $2,500
• Tinting for K Wing and Music Room and Media Center – $15,000
